Ignoring The Minority: One Election At A Time
June 10, 2007 by rapidXtheXrudie
Hello All. I am the type of writer that gets to the point and keeps it short and sweet.
So, let’s get to the point, shall we? After reading the LA Times, I have discovered an article about same sex marriage legislation. It has seems to me that people are starting to ignore the homosexuals/bisexual people.
Why? Because everyone is focused about Elections and are more interested in who becomes President than people’s rights! I’m sorry to say that Democrats who were originally fighting for this freedom are now turning their attention to potential candidates. It has been in my experience that the only issue that people are only willing to talk about during this period is lowering taxes and getting out of the war.
Don’t get me wrong, I want out of the war too. Seriously though, are politicians allowed to simply ignore a minority (homosexuals being the case here) because it doesn’t “fit” on popular opinion today?

Yes, most people never really think about that. They worry more about who will get elected, than the people these issues are affecting.

I feel the politicians are not ignoring these issues, they’re keeping a low profile. Why? Because in order for Democrats to bring in real change, including GLBT issues, they have to please as many people as possible. It never feels good to have your pet issue ignored by politicians… But I feel those running for president are ignoring issues important to me, such as food protection, not just from terrorists, but from greedy corporate boardrooms.

Hmmm, that just reminded me of the infomercial I see every morning. It has something to do with Food Secrets that the Government doesn’t want you to know about. Getting back to the point, I think we have (at least in California) an adequate food rating system.

I couldn’t disagree more with this attituude. The war in Iraq is urgent, we need to get out now all of our efforts should be devoted to that. In 5 years gays will have the right to marry, but first let’s get out of Iraq. And also most of the Democratic candidates support civil unions and oppose DADT.

yes Iraq is more important, i agree, but her point was that they’re more worried about elections than anything else, even Iraq.
