Rush Limbaugh calls Soldiers “Phony”

(If only that process were quicker)

Rush Limbaugh has gotten away with a lot. He has insulted a man with Parkinson’s disease. He has attacked all of the “Immoral” democrats for all of their liberal positions. He has said the Democrats “want to lose” in Iraq. This time, however, Rush has gone too far. During the September 26th edition of his nationally syndicated radio program, during a call with “Mike” from Olympia, he referred to soldiers who are supporting withdrawal from Iraq as “Phony”.

When Don Imus made his infamous “Nappy headed Hos” comment there was an uproar from day one. People were calling for his firing and holding protests. One has to wonder: Why isn’t that happening this time? Rush’s comment was far more offensive than what Imus said. When Imus made his remark, he was trying to get a laugh; but Limbaugh was completely serious. Rush is just one of many Neo-Cons who will line up blindly to support their country, and say that anyone who disagrees with our country’s policies is “un-American”. How can Rush and his peers call the Democrats anti-America when not one Democrat has called the soldiers phony?

The Democrats are the true patriots here, we support the troops by wanting to get them out of there safely. The Republicans have had a monopoly on Patriotism for too long. The Democrats ARE pro-America, we see that it would be in our country’s best interest to get out of Iraq and focus on our many issues here at home. I am sick and tired of the Democrats taking heat for being anti war. We do care about the soldiers. Just because we are against the war doesn’t mean we don’t recognize the sacrifice that our soldiers make.

Rush Limbaugh is a coward for making these statements. His listeners are his enablers, if people would just stop listening to this conservative blow hard his station might wake up and pull the plug on his show. Rush has too much power, and too much influence. There needs to be an uproar against his statements like there was for Imus, if not bigger. Then maybe we can finally get rid of this guy.

Ok Jeff as a regular Rushes program I can probably tell you what he meant not just a out of context snippit from Media Matters, When he said “phony” he meant by saying they are cowards or something same Savage would say it just diffrently like “He is a cowardly meatball or something.

Um, democrats are the true patriots? Is that why John Kerry called the the soldiers high school dropouts? That sounds pretty patriotic to me.

Theres a big difference between a shock jock making a passing comment and a presidential candidate making a passing comment.

And lastly, the only reason you want to get rid of him is because you don’t like what he’s saying… that doesn’t sound very patriotic to me either. SO let’s be careful about who we label “patriotic” vs. “unpatriotic”.

I will continue to enable Rush Limbaugh, just as you can continue to enable the likes of Barbara Boxer and Nancy Pelosi. This is what makes America such a great place, we have choices.

And who called for an attack on the State Department? Oh yeah Pat Robertson. Who blamed 9/11 on the US Pat Robertson. Come on, neither party has a monopoly on patriotism.

Besides the first patriots where those that defied an oppressive government. And with Bush vetoing bipartisan legislation it seems he is oppressing the will of the Americans who wanted a change in course.

Jeff, come on. You people worry and fret over the slightest Politically Incorrect comments. What you and other liberal minded, and I use the term “minded” with some caution, REALLY want is, you DO NOT want the preservation of our heritage, our way of life (which happens to be one of the most desired ways of life on the planet), or basic freedom to go about our free will, to continue.

You people are afraid of Rush. You are driven to paranoia with what he says. He is, I will admit, extreme at times, but what you are hearing, that annoys you so much is, the simple truth. Rush has an excellent research staff. He has to. He cannot afford to leave himself vulnerable with all of the ‘anti-first amendment’ adversaries he has at his heels. You would rather silence the truth, and smash the first amendment with your hammer (and sickle?)

Pulling out of Iraq, and leaving that region, will allow those who want to, and will use everything at their disposal destroy our very way of life, is just what you people want. It will enable your socialistic, controlled, and freedom-less agenda to perpetuate. Our brave men and women in our armed forces are our only shield. I, and the majority of the America-loving patriots of this nation would much rather have our shield protect us from a distance than trying to do it on our own shores… But, apparently, not you and your ilk.

Your liberal, environmentalist-controlled representatives in Congress are the very root cause of this country being forced to be dependant on foreign oil. The restrictions imposed on domestic production are the result of your liberal thought processes. You want “change”? Well, if the leftists and the neo-enviro’s gain any more control, “change is all you’re going to have left in your pocket when it’s over, if you’re lucky.

On the other hand, most of the right side of the aisle is being tugged by the same strings, so looks like we’re going to have to defend what our patriotic fore-fathers fought and sacrificed for, either way.

If so many people want the American way of life, please explain to me why we have so many enemies in the world? Apparently Iraqis don’t think so much of our way of life, and we gave it to them free, at the cost of millions of dollars a minute to ourselfs. Now, I love America, and most of what she stands for, but there are many who like a different form of government, and nothing is wrong with that.

Second, by criticizing Rush Limbaugh we are using our 1st amendment rights, just as he is by criticizing, mocking, and demeaning those who disagree with him. What Jeff was arguing for was not for legal action against him, but for private corporations and organizations to make up their minds to no longer support him.

If this site truly didn’t support the ideas behind first amendment rights, we’d just delete your comment.

Joshua - Let me ask you, what does the American way of life have to do with who likes us? That is a very weak claim in support of “changing” our form of government that again, I repeat myself, “our fore-fathers fought and made the supreme sacrifice to build”. THAT mentality is EXACTLY what drives you to get riled when you and those same-minded are called unpatriotic. Have you ever thought about the truth why so many nations seem to dislike us? It’s envy. Sure, we’re dominant, and that always makes others uncomfortable if they are weak or less powerful. Its how they see themselves I guess. Take Australia for example. They are much smaller than the US. Our might dwarfs them, but not their spirit. They love their country, and see the US as a very good friend. They’re not envious.

Dude*… Have you been to Iraq? Have you sat down with an Iraqi family, now able to vote, the girls now able to get an education, free now of the murdering dictator Sadam, and the torture (and I don’t mean water-boarding either!), the beheadings, the public mass executions, and pure mayhem in general, and speak with them? I haven’t either. But, I have sat and talked to others who have. The majority of the liberated Iraqis love their new freedoms. But, apparently you chose not to recognize them. Or, it’s possible that your source of news doesn’t provide you with those truths. I don’t know, but it’s sad that what ever it is, you are not correct with your inclusion of Iraq in your weak, unpatriotic, disloyal statement about our current form of government. It isn’t perfect, but it’s one of the better ones in existence today… If you choose to under another form of government, the beautiful thing about ours is; you are free to study all of the others, selecting the form that fits your mind-set, and go. Listening to you, maybe you will choose one that won’t let you enjoy the liberties we Americans have, and go there.. See, it really is your choice. You can do it! There are still some socialistic governments out there… Filled with wannabe slaves to Socialism.

Yes, I understand Jeff’s motives. You don’t have to explain him, It was clear where he was coming from – that’s what drove me to respond… He pissed me off.

Another thing, If you were to delete my post, it would be driven by the same mentality you share with the rest of your people.. If the truth hurts, stamp it out!

    Respecfully (kinda),

It’s funny how different people have different ideas about what “the truth” is. We all have our own ideas, including myself, about the truth, and we each believe that we are right.

It occurs to me that I would like it very much if people could get past nationalism and love of a country, and love the world as a whole instead.

  10. Mark Wishart on June 21st, 2008 2:09 am

    Hmmm,

Now that is an interesting concept. Do you have any logical proposals of how you would go about achieving that utopian goal? I’d like to hear more.. Maybe you’re onto something.

Rings a little like Socialism to me… But love surely wouldn’t be an ingredient in that formula..

It would require everything to be equal. Love will be lost because there will always be someone who wants to reap the fruits of someone else’s labor… SOMEBODY is going to be upset, with no love in their heart for those who feel they’re entitled, just because they exist…

    woahhh…..

Didn’t expect this post to become active again.

I was never calling for the censoring of Limbaugh at all, I HATE censorship, I was just calling for people to stop listening to his constant stream of hate. That’s just called a boycott. Your buddy Bill-O is very keen on those.

  12. Elizabeth Cable on June 21st, 2008 3:49 pm

There are no logical means of attaining my suggestion. It is a state of mind that goes against human nature. It is impossible. It is ridiculous. But those are my sentiments.
