Disgrace: Democrats refuse to count full delegates in Michigan and Florida

Today the Democratic Party brought itself another inch closer to a 2008 defeat by only seating Michigan and Florida’s full delegations with only half votes.

Florida was a fair primary and Clinton won, so there should be no debate there if they should be counted fully. Now in Michigan it is a different story. I think Clinton should get what she won, and the “uncommitted” delegates should be split EVENLY between who was in the race at the time. The reason for that is, because not all the voters who voted “uncommitted” were intending to vote for the inexperienced Senator from Illinois. Another sad fact that I would like to mention is, Hillary probably would have won the nomination if it was not for the DNC’s “everybody gets some delegates, even if you lose”. That childish process has to end.

Navy Sonar Testing Harms Ocean Life

When whales began to beach themselves off the coast of California in March of 2000, many scientists and environmental activists knew something was wrong. An increase in beached whales became evident in 2003, following more common sonar testing under the Bush administration’s effort for greater Homeland Security.

Sonar testing is used by the United States Navy to track enemy submarines or while practicing training efforts in case of emergencies. In 2004, the Bush administration allowed the U.S. Navy exemption from following procedures to protect ocean life and their living environment. Scientists agree that frequencies put out by sonar systems have negative consequences to whales and other ocean life. Noises created by sonar can cause hearing loss, injury, and other disturbances to whales and dolphins. Beached whales are now showing up in hundreds off the coast of southern California where they are unable to get back into the ocean, and they eventually die.

A recent district court ruling stated that the Navy’s exemption from having to follow environmental standards was not in compliance with the law.

In a press release from the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) the organization argues that “The court is saying that neither the President nor the U.S. Navy is above the law.” The NRDC demanded the Federal Appeals Court to reject the Bush administration’s sonar waiver, and that “the Navy must be environmentally responsible when training with high intensity sonar, and that doing so won’t interfere with military readiness.”

The U.S. Navy must now be within twelve nautical miles from the coast to be allowed to practice sonar testing, and if near any ocean mammals, the testing must be terminated. The Navy also plans to appeal the case in an attempt to overturn the ruling.

Think Youth is going to Denver!

Think Youth receives credentials to attend the 2008 Democratic National Convention in August.

In April we submitted an application to attend the Democratic National Convention in August of 2008. Yesterday, we formally heard back from the DNC, and they have invited us to attend the convention. We were accepted as part of the “General DemConvention Blogger Pool” which consists of “local, state and national political bloggers as well as niche bloggers.”

We would like to thank the DNC for accepting us, and we look forward to covering the convention here on our blog, with articles, podcasts, and videos and do so all while we introduce the Democratic nominee (whoever they may be) to America. As teens and young adults, this will allow us to cover the convention from a unique perspective.

We can’t wait to have a united party during the convention, and it will be a time where the wounds of our party will heal. We will head into November stronger than ever, and we can’t wait!

The End

Former Senator Mike Gravel, on May 25th, 2008, acknowledged the truth for the last time in his political career. “This is the end. I started in politics at 15 years old, and this is the end of my political career. Right today. Right this afternoon.”

Asked if there was anything that he would have liked to have done differently in this campaign, Gravel said, “No, no, no, we played it straight. My style of politics is just to tell people what you are, what you believe in, and what you want to lead to.”

Mike Gravel’s political career may have ended on a warm day in May 2008, but it began when, in 1945, as a young man at age 15, he began passing out flyers and volunteering with local political campaigns in his hometown of Springfield, Massachusetts. It continued when he headed to Alaska in 1956, leaving the Kennedy-controlled politics of Massachusetts, in the hopes of launching his own political career. Alaska was the perfect place to do it; when Gravel first arrived there, it was in the pre-statehood phase and didn’t even have any Senators yet.

Mike Gravel was elected to the Alaska House of Representative in 1962, and he tried to make the most of the power of his office in order to help people. Gravel said at the HRC/LOGO debate in August 2007, “My first piece of legislation in the State Legislature was the creation of the Human Rights Commission of Alaska. I fought hard, I used political capital. And what I learned is that when you use political capital, more capital comes to you. The Human Rights Commission dealt with gays and dealt with the black community. That was my first accomplishment, and I felt it deeply.”

Libertarians Nominate Conservative Bob Barr, Why?

I was almost hoping that I’d have to make a tough decision between the presidential Libertarian candidate and Obama. Unfortunately for me, but fortunately for the Democrats, the Libertarian Party has selected former Congressman Bob Barr as their nominee.

A quick skim through Barr’s Wikipedia page confirms that he is more confused and washed up Republican than Libertarian. Barr was once one of the War On Drugs’ biggest supporters, but in recent years he has lobbied for a pro-medical marijuana organization. He was the author of the “Defense of Marriage Act” (the law that says a federally recognized marriage must be between a man and a woman). It seems like the reason he doesn’t support the “Federal Marriage Amendment” is not because it harms the civil liberties of homosexuals, but because it violates states’ rights. He voted for the PATRIOT ACT and the war in Iraq. He is pro-life. He has even suggested that the military ban the practice of Wicca in their ranks.

Other than perhaps the recent switch to promoting medical marijuana, Barr is not socially libertarian at all. Of course, the other half of libertarian philosophy is the economic side, and he seems to fit that, but when the Libertarian Party showed up at Warped Tour a few years back, they sure weren’t promoting economic policy.

The future of the Libertarian Party is in their social policies, because that is where they can attract many of the same voters that Obama is attracting. Instead of recognizing that, they have gone for a candidate who is going to steal votes from John McCain, and have set back their potential for growth for another four years.

Like I said though, for the democrats, this is a great thing. Barr is polling 2% ahead of Ralph Nader, and taking most of those votes from people who would otherwise vote for McCain. Maybe there is a hidden agenda here. The libertarians know that they can’t win, so they make sure that McCain can’t either, and then somebody who is at least open to new ideas and might listen to them can become president.

Libertarian Debate at 9:00 EST Tonight on C-Span

It is May 24th, and the Libertarians are in the midst of their National Convention in Denver. The Convention started on May 22nd, and will continue until May 26th. This year, there are many candidates for Libertarians to choose from. Six of those candidates acquired enough “tokens” today to participate in a Live Libertarian Debate on C-Span tonight, at 9-11 o’clock Eastern time, 6-8 o’clock Pacific time.

Concerning “tokens” the Libertarian Party website clarifies, “The 12 presidential candidates who made the trip to Denver for the National Convention have been petitioning Libertarian delegates for their support in the form of delegate tokens, which go towards qualifying candidates for certain events at the national convention.”

The candidates debating will be Former Alaskan Senator Mike Gravel, Former Congressman Bob Barr, Mary Ruwart (a Libertarian party activist), George Phillies (Libertarian activist and professor of physics), Steve Kubby (Libertarian activist and cancer patient), Michael Jingozian, and Wayne Allyn Root (business mogul). Other Libertarian candidates who did not acquire enough tokens to debate were Christine Smith, Daniel Imperato, and Alden Link.

Hillary Brings Up Assassination Issue?

The blogosphere is a buzz surround a breaking story where Hillary Clinton made the following comment to a newspaper editorial board:

Hillary: Between my opponent, and his camp, and some in the media, there has been this urgency to end this, and historically that makes no sense. So I find it a bit of a mystery.

Questioner: You don’t buy the party unity argument?

Hillary: “I don’t, because again, I’ve been around long enough. My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don’t understand it.”

Hillary Clinton was NOT saying she should stay in this race because there is a possibility Barack Obama could be assassinated. She was citing examples of politicians who stayed in the primaries through June, and why should she have to drop out if they didn’t.

Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton responded with the following comment:

“Senator Clinton’s statement before the Argus Leader editorial board was unfortunate and has no place in this campaign.”

Mo Elleithee, a Clinton campaign spokesman responds as well:

“She was simply referencing her husband in 1992 and Bobby Kennedy in 1968 as historical examples of the nominating process going well into the summer. Any reading into it beyond that is outrageous.”

“It is clear from the context that Hillary was invoking a familiar political circumstance in order to support her decision to stay in the race through June. I have heard her make this reference before, also citing her husband’s 1992 race, both of which were hard fought through June. I understand how highly charged the atmosphere is, but I think it is a mistake for people to take offense.”

Obama’s war on liberty.

As the news media was gloating about 70,000 people attending an Obama rally, as ignorant as they are they did not play the content of the speech (besides snippets of “change” and “hope”).

He said.

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,”

What Barack Obama has done has brained washed so many Democrats that they have turned into deaf mutants that cannot even listen to what he is saying (besides of course “change” and “hope”). Eating the way we want, driving the way we want, and heating the way we want, are fundamental liberties that we CANNOT lose. Barack Obama would be a president like the people who made the decisions in Costco and Sam’s Club who recently limited the purchase of rice to 80lbs per visit. Which is against personal liberty. Congress should condemn Costco, Sam’s Club, AND BARACK OBAMA.

Hillary takes Kentucky, Obama takes Oregon

CNN projects Clinton wins Kentucky, by a “wide margin,” and possibly by around “30 points.” (Final Percentage: 65%-30%)

Michelle Obama - Bringing ignorance to the world, EVERY DAY!

Michelle Obama would make a great ignorant showing as a first lady. Just last week she vetoed the chance of a dream ticket if Obama were to be the nominee. She would be an ignorant adviser to the president because of her vetoing of this dream ticket. A dream ticket of Obama-Clinton would be a monumental victory for the Democratic party, but of course ignorant Michelle does not like Hillary because she did not give her husband an easy path to the White House.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Close-in supporters of Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign are convinced he never will offer the vice presidential nomination to Sen. Hillary Clinton for one overriding reason: Michelle Obama.

The Democratic front-runner’s wife did not comment on other rival candidates for the party’s nomination, but she has been sniping at Clinton since last summer. According to Obama sources, those public utterances do not reveal the extent of her hostility.

A footnote: Support is growing in Democratic ranks for Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland as vice president. He would bring to the ticket maturity (66 years old), experience (six terms in Congress) and moderation (rated “A” by the National Rifle Association). He is very popular in Ohio, a state Republicans must carry to elect a president.

Note: my predictions are based on if Michigan and Florida’s votes are counted.

Here are my predictions for all the states to come.

Kentucky - Hillary wins.

Oregon - Obama wins.

Puerto Rico - Hillary wins.

and the upset: Hillary wins South Dakota.

End result:

Hillary wins the popular vote, Obama wins the delegates. The DNC will have to choose Hillary because of the popular vote and large states won.

The hypocrite that John Edwards is.

After learning that John Edwards was planning to endorse the inexperienced Senator from Illinois, I thought, ‘Why is he doing this?’ His health care plan covered everybody and so does Senator Clinton’s, and Obama’s does not. So why is he endorsing him?

My answer is this is another “jumping on the band wagon” moron. But there is some sort of hypocrisy as I mentioned before. Barack Obama has sucked a large amount of the Democratic party into his change balloon.
