Gov. Warner’s speech has begun. He says that the most important contest of our time is the race for the future. He’s now using his personal success story to illustrate the American Dream.
Gov. Warner is being more fierce than I expected him to be. I’m impressed so far! Warner’s playing to the Virginia crowd big time, while simultaneously making points on a national scale. Very effective stuff. He’s reminding me why he left office with a 70% approval rating.

[...] Mark Warner, past Governor, candidate for US Senate, and favorite son of Virginia; gave the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention last night. Politician and pundits worried over the need to meet high expectations. He had the dubious distinction, four years later, of following Barack Obama’s break out speech from 2004. While not a barn burner speech, most observers were relieved, as he fully met expectations. Local Democrats had a noticeable sigh of relief.
