PTA President is not Vice-Presidential Material
August 31, 2008 by Theo van der Deer

Senator McCain celebrated his birthday by picking a hockey mom turned governor as his running mate. It was an interesting day to make the pick because, it was also the senator’s birthday. John McCain turned 72 on Friday, this means, if elected, he would be the oldest president in our nations history.
The Governor talks with a slightly squeaky voice. She wears glasses and fashions a hair style that give the appearance of a cold and rigid attitude.
Palin listed her less than impressive resume:
Kids Basketball Coach
“Hokey Mom”
PTA President
City Council of Wasila
Mayor of Wasilla Alaska (town of 5470) This is the same town that she said she cut government spending….one has to ask how much spending there really in such a small town…
Governor of Alaska (Alaska is the same size as Charleston, South Carolina)
She said in her speech that she rejected the Alaskan, “Bridge to Nowhere.” This was an interesting statement, because the legislation was drafted by Alaska senator and John McCain loyalist, Ted Stevens.

When I heard of the decision, I thought:”This must be the only woman that would run with John McCain.” After all this is the same John McCain that voted against the Violence Against Women Act. The same John McCain that has supported anti-choice legislation time after time after time again. This is the same John McCain that did not support an equal pay/equal wage bill, just last April.
This woman is not qualified to be vice-president. John McCain’s age makes this pick questionable and even dangerous. In a world where the United States is liable to numerous national security threats, I don’t believe this “Hokey Mom” would be fit to serve as commander in chief, in the event of something happening to John McCain. A McCain/Palin White House would be a recipe for disaster and America cannot afford another one of those.

Also, SHE couldn’t have cut spending in that village she was mayor of, because the Mayor’s only two responsibilities in the village by-laws are, and I quote:
1. To debate issues with the City Council, casting a vote only to break a tie.
2. To act as ceremonial head of village

Violence Against Women Act Becoming a Political Liability
Senator Joe Biden was regularly and severely beaten by his older sister as a child and as an adolescent. How do we know this? He told us during a Senate hearing in 1990.

This is the same sister that raised his two sons after his wife and daughter were killed in an auto accident.
Biden has often claimed that the Violence against Women Act is the greatest achievement of his career. He also claims that a woman cannot be a perpetrator of domestic violence, despite the fact that hundreds of studies show that women commit acts of domestic violence as often or more often than men. Many studies also show that lesbian women physically attack their intimate partners at higher rates than heterosexual men.
As a result of Biden’s Violence against Women Act, the federal government pays states to create laws effectively requiring that innocent men be removed from their homes and families without even an allegation of violence, with no legitimate standards of evidence, when a woman makes a claim that she is afraid.
Elaine Epstein, president of the Massachusetts Bar Association (1999), has said “the facts have become irrelevant… restraining orders are granted to virtually all who apply. Regarding divorce cases, she states “allegations of abuse are now used for tactical advantage”. According to Epstein, who is also a former president of the Massachusetts Women’s Bar Association, restraining orders are doled out “like candy” and “in virtually all cases, no notice, meaningful hearing, or impartial weighing of evidence is to be had.” Cathy Young reports on the Elaine Epstein quote and the broader issue at Salon.com here:

State restraining order laws are starting to fall because they’re unconstitutional. The federal law behind them, written by Joe Biden, is likely to fall as well, not because it isn’t popular, but because it is clearly unconstitutional.

wow. just support Bob Barr already. If you’re going to be a Democrat, be a Democrat. But one second you refer to “us” winning the election, and next you’re once again saying that Obama isn’t presidential material.
[Reply]
Well now John McCain has a chance because of morons like you. If Hillary was the nominee, the election would be over already.
[Reply]
I am a reluctant non enthusiastic supporter of Obama.
