Bio: My name is Theo van der Deer I am a Liberal video blogger on youtube and on Think Youth. I do support Barack Obama for president in 2008, because this election is far too important to support any third-party candidate.
Sarah Palin’s Baby Bonanza
September 1, 2008 by Theo van der Deer · 3 Comments
Reports are circulating that, Sarah Palin’s daughter is 5 months pregnant.
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin announced moments ago that her 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, is five months pregnant.
This cannot be good news for John McCain, and will definitely hurt him with the evangelical community in the Republican Party.
Also there maybe another problem for the McCain campaign. When Palin previously announced her pregnancy, many doubted that she was pregnant. She apparently gave a speech right after her water broke. And her daughter, Bristol, missed school for 5 months for what was reported as, “mono”. However, the McCain campaign has denied this, the campaign announced the pregnancy to rebut rumors about the older son, Trig.
The second Palin Problem for the McCain campaign is Palin’s involvement in the “Wooten and Monegan” case:
The little-known vice presidential candidate faces accusations of firing public safety commissioner Walt Monegan in what amounts to a messy Palin family drama dating to her pre-gubernatorial days. Monegan had refused to fire a state trooper who had divorced Palin’s sister.
The third Palin Problem for the McCain campaign is what would be a clear conflict of interest, Palin’s husband Todd, is reported to for BP. This of course is esspecially troubling because Palin worked as director on Alaska’s oil and gas commission
It seems as if McCain did a poor job vetting Gov. Palin, the more we know, the better it gets.
PTA President is not Vice-Presidential Material
August 31, 2008 by Theo van der Deer · 7 Comments

Senator McCain celebrated his birthday by picking a hockey mom turned governor as his running mate. It was an interesting day to make the pick because, it was also the senator’s birthday. John McCain turned 72 on Friday, this means, if elected, he would be the oldest president in our nations history.
The Governor talks with a slightly squeaky voice. She wears glasses and fashions a hair style that give the appearance of a cold and rigid attitude.
Palin listed her less than impressive resume:
Kids Basketball Coach
“Hokey Mom”
PTA President
City Council of Wasila
Mayor of Wasilla Alaska (town of 5470) This is the same town that she said she cut government spending….one has to ask how much spending there really in such a small town…
Governor of Alaska (Alaska is the same size as Charleston, South Carolina)
She said in her speech that she rejected the Alaskan, “Bridge to Nowhere.” This was an interesting statement, because the legislation was drafted by Alaska senator and John McCain loyalist, Ted Stevens.

When I heard of the decision, I thought:”This must be the only woman that would run with John McCain.” After all this is the same John McCain that voted against the Violence Against Women Act. The same John McCain that has supported anti-choice legislation time after time after time again. This is the same John McCain that did not support an equal pay/equal wage bill, just last April.
This woman is not qualified to be vice-president. John McCain’s age makes this pick questionable and even dangerous. In a world where the United States is liable to numerous national security threats, I don’t believe this “Hokey Mom” would be fit to serve as commander in chief, in the event of something happening to John McCain. A McCain/Palin White House would be a recipe for disaster and America cannot afford another one of those.

Mike Gravel is a Libertarian now?
March 26, 2008 by Theo van der Deer · 32 Comments

I have supported Mike Gravel for a long time now. I have always admired his willingness to call out the liars within the Democratic establishment. I have supported the National Initiative for Democracy, which is an idealistic and romantic idea of how the system should work. Gravel’s Fair Tax is also idealistic and romantic, however, the problem with the Fair Tax is that it is unfair, but really that is another matter.
Quite a few times throughout his campaign I have wondered why Senator Gravel has done certain things. Some of them do come across as crazy and a little bit wacky. In one video Gravel is seen on a street corner with Ron Paul supporters trying to set up a debate with Paul and another time Gravel dressed up as Santa Claus for a special holiday musical video. Neither of these times, was I really concerned that Mike Gravel did not deserve my support.
However, last night Senator Gravel announced that he would be switching parties and joining the Libertarians.
I wanted to update you on my latest plans before news gets out. Today, I am announcing my plan to join the Libertarian Party, because the Democratic Party no longer represents my vision for our great country. I wanted my supporters to get this news first, because you have been the ones who have kept my campaign alive since I first declared my candidacy on April 17, 2006.
I completely agree with the criticisms about the Democratic Party, however the Libertarian Party is the wrong direction to go. It is said that the two pillars of the Libertarian Party are “greed and weed.” I am a Liberal, I believe in helping the working poor. So really, I could never support a candidate who entered the same party Ron Paul shied away from. I don’t know who I will support now, I may stick with Gravel. The other options are a celebrity speech reader and a famous wife of a famous president. Nader of course, is a possibility, but maybe that is too cliché.

Why not Gravel or Nader or both?

“I think the job of the Democratic Party is to be so compelling that a few percentage [points] of the vote going to another candidate is not going to make any difference.”
